The Kingdom of the Netherlands accepts on behalf of the Netherlands Antilles the obligations
arising from Labour Convention No. 69 concerning the Certification of Ships’ Cooks.
The Convention will apply to the Netherlands Antilles as of the date on which it enters
into force for the Netherlands.
It is undesirable to apply this Convention to Netherlands New Guinea for the time
being, given that no ships that have their home port in New Guinea could currently
fall under the provisions of the Convention. It is undesirable to apply the Convention
to Suriname at the current time, as long as only one shipping company operating seagoing
vessels is based in that country, with all company shares being owned by its government.
