Protocol betreffende een wijziging van artikel 50(a) van het Verdrag inzake de internationale burgerluchtvaart

[T]he Government of the Argentine Republic has observed that the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland has made declarations by which it seeks to extend the effects of its ratifications to the South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands and to the so-called “British Antarctic Territory".
In this regard, the Argentine Republic wishes to reiterate that the Malvinas, South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands, along with the surrounding maritime areas, are an integral part of Argentina’s national territory and that, because they are under illegitimate British occupation, they are in a special and unique colonial situation, as recognized by Resolution 2065 (XX) and subsequent resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly, as well as by 45 resolutions of the Special Decolonization Committee that acknowledge the existence of a sovereignty dispute and urge the parties — namely, the Argentine Republic and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland — to resume negotiations on sovereignty in order to reach a peaceful solution.
Furthermore, the Argentine Republic reaffirms its sovereign rights over the Argentine Antarctic Sector and also recalls the safeguards regarding territorial sovereignty claims in Antarctica set forth in Article IV of the Antarctic Treaty, signed in Washington on December 1, 1959, to which the Argentine Republic and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland are parties. In light of the foregoing, the Argentine Republic categorically rejects the United Kingdom’s claim to extend the effects of its ratifications to the South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands and to the so-called “British Antarctic Territory".
