... the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, having
considered the Protocol aforesaid, hereby confirms and ratifies the same and undertakes
faithfully to perform and carry out all the stipulations therein contained subject
to the reservation that the United Kingdom reserves the right not to apply article
3, paragraph 2, of the Protocol, in so far as it applies to new lean-burn spark ignition
4-stroke engines greater than 1 MWth capacity, believing that it is not likely to
be technically feasible to achieve the limit value, specified in table 4 of annex
V to the Protocol, of 250 mg/Nm3, for such engines.
